With October half-term just around the corner we wanted to put together some suggestions on how to keep the children entertained for the whole week with activities going on in and around the Smithfield development.

The city has tonnes of activities and events planned including walking with monkey’s through to the ultimate VR experience which can all be enjoyed by the whole family. Check out our list below on exciting ways to spend your days this half-term in Stoke-on-Trent.

Trentham Estate

Located South of Smithfield is the Trentham Estate. This stunning 725 acre stretch of natural Staffordshire beauty always has so much to do and they’ve put together a dedicated October half-term programme.

With an exciting adventure playground, AKA a ‘child’s paradise’, disc golf games and a Treetop Adventure course which can be enjoyed, Trentham has something to keep everyone entertained this half term.

Trentham Estate is also home to a monkey forest with a beautiful pathway lined with 140 Barbary Macaques – a unique and fascinating experience that is perfect to wow the kids.

Another exciting addition for this year is the ‘Room on the Broom’ trail which is taking place in Trentham’s award-winning gardens. The imaginative trail has been designed to take the kids on a storytelling adventure filled with magic, friendship, dragons and monsters. You may need to purchase tickets for this one!

Virtual Reality Experience

One for the gamers! Why not visit the XP-VR Virtual Reality Experience? Located just a few minutes walk from Smithfield, this indoor attraction offers guests the chance to enjoy games in special virtual reality! If it’s hunting dinosaurs or flying on a dragon’s back there are games suitable for all those aged 8 and over. You may need to book in advance for this one!

Waterworld

Voted the UK’s No.1 Tropical Aqua Park and located 5 minutes from Smithfield, Waterworld is perfect for a full day out this October half-term.

With over 30 rides, including four brand new super thrill rides in Tornado Alley, featuring Thunder, Cyclone, Hurricane and Stormchase, this epic aquatic adventure provides families with a day that is suitable for all ages.

Float around in the lazy pool, ride the waves in the Wave Pool or take on the dark cave rapids. The grounds also has a leisure resort with two 18-hole mini golf courses and M Club Spa and Fitness Facility.
