Here at Smithfield, we have an exciting summer events programme with an array of activities for all ages to enjoy.
Hailed as one of the best places to live, work, and play in Stoke-on-Trent, we kicked off the festivities with a summer exhibition from art students at Stoke College, who showcased their work at Smithfield Works on the 12th July.
We will be welcoming award-winning contemporary circus company, Upswing, who will be bringing their ‘Circus Flavours’ workshops on the 12th and 13th August. Attendees spectating the circus, which is supported by the New Victoria Theatre, can expect a weekend of incredible shows demonstrating their acrobatic and storytelling skills. Children will also be able to learn circus skills, from juggling to hoop work.
Throughout the six weeks of the school summer holidays, children and young people will be encouraged to remain active and engaged with exercise through Bee Active’s fun-filled activities such as archery, football, and more. Smithfield is once again supporting local community group, ChitChat4U, who exist to help tackle knife crime and youth violence in the Stoke area, by offering storytelling, sports day, and a teddy bear’s picnic from August-September.
Ahead of the reopening of the City Centre Library at Smithfield later this year, you can get your book fix through a weekly visit by the Little Library Van. Coming to site every Wednesday from the 2nd August, you can pick up your book requests, find out more about library membership, and join in with the Singing Bears.
Tiffany Chevis, Head of Marketing at Genr8, said:
“Summer at Smithfield is all about embracing our brilliant community here in Stoke and inviting everyone to come together for a fun-filled few months.
“We’re delighted to have partnered with a number of community groups and organisations to fill up the calendar, and Smithfield is the perfect hub for these activities to take place, attracting those near and far to see all that the space has to offer.”
We have also recently announced our new relationship with Hanley Town Football Club including sponsorship of player Reece Jones, as well as the upcoming match against Bootle, in a bid to support the fantastic grassroots work the team does.
