With community and collaboration at the core of its design, we’d like to introduce you to Smithfield Works’ Community Manager, Charlotte.
Tell us about yourself.
“My name is Charlotte and I am the new Smithfield Works Community Manager.
I’ve previously worked at a managed office space in Liverpool where I lived for 10 years. I moved back to my home city, Stoke on Trent, 12 months ago where I now live with my little dog Peggy AKA white devil and partner.
I enjoy dog walks, socialising and yoga but definitely not pool as the Genr8 team recently learned I am hopeless at it!”
Tell us about your role at Smithfield Works?
“As the Community Manager, I look after the day-to-day running of Smithfield Works. I am the first port of call for any issues that Smithfield Works members may encounter and I am always here to make sure everyone’s day runs smoothly, have a chat and help out where I can.
No two days are the same. I can be organising events and seminars for the Smithfield Works members, ensuring that any maintenance issues are addressed and dealing with any other queries our members have.”
What are you most excited about with this new role?
“At the end of the day, I am a people person so I’m looking forward to welcoming a variety of people and businesses to Smithfield Works, helping them enjoy their time in the office and hopefully see them accomplish some amazing things.
I’m also looking forward to organising an engaging events/seminars schedule for our members. It’s these sorts of things that make us stand out from the crowd, we’re trying to help our members as much as we can.
Ultimately, managing a successful workspace and bringing something new to my home city is really exciting for me!”
What can the Smithfield Works community expect?
“Smithfield Works is the first design-led premium managed workspace offer in Stoke-on-Trent. Our contemporary workspace offers flexible arrangements that suit all needs, whether you’re a solo entrepreneur or have a team of staff.
We’ve made things as easy as possible for Smithfield Works members with a specifically designed app to manage their work experience. On the Smithfield Works app you can book a variety of office space including private office suites, hot desks and seats in the co-working space. Our community will be able to book meeting room facilities, access discount codes for local businesses and order food straight to their desk.
As I’ve said, we’re trying to create a real community and help our members as much as we can!”
Talk us through a normal day at Smithfield Works.
“As we have just opened the doors a couple of weeks ago, my day-to-day role at the minute is all about learning the ropes and getting to grips with the space and all its hi-tech gadgetry and following welcoming our first member, making sure I am always available for them and they have got everything they need like the all important WiFi password!

“The fact that this is space is the first of its kind in Stoke-on-Trent.”
