The developer behind Hanley’s Smithfield scheme has announced that it is to hold a public consultation ahead of submitting plans for the site’s multi-storey car park.
The car park, which will go in front of a planning committee later this year, will offer the city centre 730 new much-needed car parking spaces.
The multi-storey would be built on the site of the existing 106-space Broad Street car park, and would meet demand from Smithfield’s office, hotel and residential developments, the wider city centre, and Stoke-on-Trent’s expanding visitor numbers.
A dedicated landing page will also be set up on the Smithfield website, with full details of the planned works and insight into what the completed car park could look like.
The car park makes up part of the next phase of Smithfield, plans for which were approved in July. The next programme of works will see a 62,000 sq. ft. Grade A office building constructed on the site – adding to the existing 210,000 sq. ft. of office space already constructed, along with a 140-bed Hilton Garden Inn hotel and an 11-storey block of build-to-rent apartments.
If approved, works are expected to start before the summer is out, with the car park potentially operational by September 2021.
Those with feedback on the proposed plans for the multi-storey car park are encouraged to fill out a form on the website by 9 August 2020, which can be found here: https://smithfieldstoke.com/mscp-stoke-consultation
