Back to News

With the school Easter holidays underway, we’ve decided to treat you to a roundup of the sweetest Easter activities on offer in the Stoke region.

From Easter egg hunting to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory watching, Stoke is stocked-up with some cracking Easter activities that are bound to put a smile on your face.

Emma Bridgewater Factory

Just a short walk from Smithfield in Hanley is the Emma Bridgewater Factory.

A historic establishment producing over 1.7million pieces of pottery each year, Emma Bridgewater Factory is the home of UK pottery. This Easter, they’ve put together a special itinerary of events that are well worth a visit.

On Tuesday 19th and Thursday 21st April from 12-3pm, the Factory are offering visitors a go at screen printing their very own Emma Bridgewater Easter poster. This drop in activity is free of charge and suitable for all ages, giving you and the family an opportunity to get stuck in and create wonderful memories together.

Another free drop-in activity is taking place on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd April, when you can meet ‘The Hen Lady’ and snuggle with a fluffy Easter chick.

Now what would an EGGcelent Easter itinerary be without an Easter egg hunt? Take your littles ones on the free children’s trail to find the chicks and ducklings hiding around the factory, shops, café and garden – there are treats up for grabs for the winners! Why not tie this into their Afternoon Tea Experience Day too? – an all-year round favourite with visitors.

Emma Bridgewater Factory have gone the extra mile this Easter to ensure all visitors can enjoy an EGGtra special experience, book your visit via their website!

Watch Willy Wonka

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory is a classic film and it’s now 50 years since it hit the big screen!

Easter, like the film, is full of chocolatey-goodness and so it seems most appropriate to enjoy the film during these holidays. The Mitchell Arts Centre on our doorstep in Hanley has organised a showing on Easter Sunday at 10:30am.

Be careful though, the showing is in high-demand so you’d better rush to get your golden ticket! At just £3.50, it’s the perfect family activity for Easter Sunday. The Mitchell Arts Centre is also running other family films throughout the holiday.

For children, Easter egg hunts are the pinnacle of the holiday… so it only seems fair we round-off our round-up with two of the best Easter egg hunts across the region!

Ford Green Hall is the historic home of Hugh Ford. Now an award-winning museum, the Hall offers visitors a fascinating insight into the life of the 17th century. This Easter the Hall has organised some special activities.

From 11-18 April, take the family for a delightful day out searching for Easter eggs and chicks throughout the Hall and garden. Whilst you’re there, you might as well have a go playing with period toys and games and also test your artistic skills on their Easter craft activity!

These activities run from 1-3pm and normal admission applies plus small charges for the trail and craft activity.

Between 8-18 April, go for a fun-filled afternoon making your way along the trail finding all the treats hidden amongst the flora and fauna. The trail is open from 10am-5:30pm and costs £3 per trail – a price that includes a trail map, pencil and a chocolate egg at the end.
